2011-2012 Quebec Racquetball Association’s Elite team selection criteria.
(These selection criteria are valid from July 1st, 2011 to June 30th, 2012)
To reach a level or to be selected for a higher level, you have to meet the following requirements:
An athlete can only be at one level at the time during a year.
The Levels:
A) Excellence
You must take part in:
a) Quebec Championship
b) Canadian Championship
c) In one of the two national team selection events
d) Q.R.A’s Training camps
e) Maintain a regular training frequency, complete and file the monthly training report.
f) Be under the supervision of a certified coach recognized by the Q.R.A
g) Be subsidized by Sport Canada (carded athlete), or obtain an equivalence from the Québec Government.
B) Elite
You must take part in:
a) Quebec Championship (Junior or Senior Open)
b) Canadian Championship (Junior or Senior Open)
c) In one of the two national team selection events
d) Q.R.A’s Training camps
e) Maintain a regular training frequency, complete and file the monthly training report according the request of the coach.
f) Be under the supervision of a certified coach recognized by the Q.R.A
g) The selection will be: the 4 best athletes men and women of the last year according to the Canadian ranking system on June 30th of the selection year, as it should be following the tournaments results.
C) Relève
You must take part in:
a) Quebec Championship (Junior or Senior)
b) Canadian Championship (Junior or Senior)
c) Q.R.A’s Training camps
d) World Juniors Championship (suggested, but non-obligatory)
e) Maintain a regular training frequency
f) Be under the supervision of a certified coach recognized by the Q.R.A
g) Be 25 years old or younger on January 1st of the selection year.
h) The selection 12 athletes (6 boys, 6 girls) will be:
- the winners (boys and girls) of the Quebec Junior Championships in the 18, 16, 14 year old and under categories
- if necessary the rest of the selection will be made according to the Canadian Ranking as of June 30th of the Selection year.
D) Espoir
You must take part in:
a) Quebec Championship (Junior or Senior)
b) Canadian Championship (Junior or Senior, suggested, but non-obligatory)
c) Q.R.A.’s Training camps.
d) World Juniors Championship (suggested, but non-obligatory)
e) Maintain a regular training frequency
f) Be under the supervision of a certified coach recognized by the Q.R.A.
g) Be 20 years old or younger on January 1st of the selection the year.
NB: The team members selection is done or modified at least once a year on July 1st, or depending of the situation, for all athletes who have followed the required events. Changes can be made at all time in the year (including according to Excellence level athletes’ status based on Sport Canada’s cardings). The Q.R.A settles all equalities occurring during the year and proceeds with the analysis of all controversies based on the National rankings, performances and athlete’s involvement as demonstrated during the year. Not following one requirement, plus injury situations will be evaluated at all levels by the Q.R.A.
In the eventuality of the recognition of an error with the rankings, the Q.R.A will modify the athlete’s list to the date of the error’s demonstration, but will not go back to the date related to the cause of the error in the rankings.
List of identified athletes at the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec (MÉLS):
The Q.R.A presents a list including the following numbers of athletes:
1. Excellence: All Sport Canada’s carded athletes (or with an equivalence from the MÉLS)
2. Elite: 8 athletes (4 boys and 4 girls)
3. Releve: 12 athletes (6 boys and 6 girls)
4. Espoir: Undefined number Subject to Q.R.A.’s talent detection program.
